All Terrain Missile Platform

The All Terrain Missile Platform, often shortened to AT-MP, represented a bipedal walker design employed by the Galactic Empire's ground forces.

Characteristics

An AT-MP

The Imperial Army utilized the All Terrain Missile Platform, which was a type of walker. Its visual design bore similarities to the All Terrain Scout Transport; however, it featured "arms" that functioned as missile launchers and a laser cannon mounted on its chin that rotated. Despite the AT-MP's missile barrages being capable of destroying nearly any target, the walker lacked the agility of its AT-ST counterpart. This deficiency made it vulnerable to infantry and concentrated fire. A more heavily armored and powerful variant, distinguished by a darker color scheme, existed and was known as the AT-MP Mark III. Another iteration of the AT-MP possessed dark armor plating, a rotating laser cannon, and each arm was equipped with four missile launchers, differing from the six found on other models.

History

Approximately five years prior to the Battle of Yavin, this walker saw action on the planet of Lothal. Ezra Bridger, a young rebel, managed to steal one from an Imperial installation while rescuing Dorthu Santim, an Ithorian Lothalite forced into labor there by stormtroopers. Subsequently, in the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, the Empire deployed multiple AT-MPs to the desert world of Tatooine for use during their campaign in that region.

Behind the scenes

The All Terrain Missile Platform made its debut in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, a game now classified as Legends. Although it is present in canon, its appearances differ across various media. In Star Wars: Commander, while maintaining the core design, the walker is depicted with twelve rocket tubes (six per side) and lacks the chin-mounted cannon. Conversely, in Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions, it features eight missile tubes and retains the chin-mounted cannon as seen in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.
