Battle for Tatooine

The initial spark of the conflict between the Tatooine rebel cell and the Galactic Empire on Tatooine was ignited by an attack targeting the Atom Edge. This freighter, belonging to the Alliance, was transporting vital supplies intended for Saponza's Gang. Tragically, the freighter was destroyed, resulting in its wreckage being scattered across two distinct locations. One site was swiftly secured by Imperial forces, while the other fell into the hands of mercenaries. Determined to recover the much-needed supplies, Saponza and his partner launched an assault on the mercenaries.

In response, the Rebellion launched a bomber attack on an Imperial Listening Post, utilizing X-Wings and Y-Wings. Subsequently, an Imperial Patrol launched an attack on Saponza's homestead, but Saponza's Gang successfully defended their base. The Rebellion then executed raids on three separate Imperial supply posts. Another Imperial Patrol subsequently attacked the Homestead, again without success. Following this, Jennica Pierce gave the order to attack an Imperial Operative to acquire crucial intelligence. After a successful operation, a final Imperial patrol attempted to lay siege to the homestead.

Leveraging the acquired intelligence, the rebellion forces successfully destroyed an Imperial Base. They continued their offensive campaign against the Imperials by liberating a small town, attacking an outpost, conducting raids on two alloy depots, and destroying another listening station. After a series of successful attacks, Jennica deemed that they were prepared to initiate larger-scale operations against the Imperial forces stationed on Tatooine.

The Alliance High Command then devised a strategy to gain control of Tatooine. The plan involved Saponza's gang launching an attack on a base located on Dandoran. During this attack, one of Saponza's soldiers would feign defection and provide the Imperials with misleading information regarding upcoming attacks. To establish the mole's credibility, he informed them of an impending attack on an Imperial Operative on Tatooine, but the warning was delivered too late for the Imperials to send reinforcements. Following the attack on the Operative, the Imperial forces retaliated by attacking the homestead.

Han Solo played a crucial role in advancing the plan. He instructed that a number of facilities on Dandoran should be targeted, with the goal of dispersing the Empire's forces across the sub-sector. Following the attacks on Dandoran, Imperial forces attempted to lay siege to the Homestead.

Solo then revealed that the plan involved deceiving the Empire into believing that they were planning to attack the main base on Dandoran. In reality, their true objective was to attack a holding cell containing the rogue senator Johhar Kessen. To further convince the Empire that an attack on the main Dandoran base was imminent, the gang launched an attack on a staging area on Dandoran, followed by attacks on an Imperial Operative and an Imperial Starport, both also located on Dandoran.

The Rebellion was now ready to liberate Kessen. Solo, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa, accompanied by a group of Rebel Marksmen and soldiers, infiltrated the Detention Center that housed Kessen and successfully freed him from Imperial custody. To secure Kessen's allegiance, Saponza and his gang assisted Kessen in his hunts. After successfully defeating various large creatures (krayt dragons, rancors, etc), Kessen pledged his loyalty to the Alliance. With Kessen's assistance, numerous Imperial shipments were mysteriously "lost in transit."

The Alliance then launched an attack on Fort Sunfire, one of the largest Imperial bases on the planet. This action infuriated Captain Kosh, the Imperial officer commanding operations on Tatooine. In response, he launched two separate attacks on the Homestead. The first attack involved the entire 68th Legion, while the second utilized a squadron of mechanized forces. Despite these efforts, he was unable to destroy the Homestead.

The final phase of the battle commenced with an attack on a Starship Depot that housed a number of Gozanti-class cruisers that Kosh had illicitly acquired from the Empire for use in his black market smuggling operations. This was followed by two assaults on contraband smuggling facilities operated by Kosh and his 68th Legion. The objective of these assaults was to seize Kosh's contraband shipments and repurpose them for the benefit of the Alliance. However, Kosh retaliated by launching an attack on Saponza's homestead, deploying a significant detachment against the fortified base. Despite their efforts, they were ultimately defeated by the homestead's defenses, which had been enhanced by the Alliance.

With Kosh having exhausted his mobile forces, the Alliance resumed its offensive, destroying a reinforcement facility to prevent Kosh from reinforcing Fort Ironhand. Fort Ironhand served as the primary base for the majority of the 68th Legion's forces and represented the most significant Imperial stronghold on Tatooine, aside from Fort Sunfire.

The Alliance executed the assault on Fort Ironhand in three distinct phases. The initial assault focused on neutralizing the western garrison, followed by a second assault targeting the eastern garrison. The final phase of the assault centered on Fort Ironhand itself, with a group of Jawas joining the regular Alliance forces in the attack. The combined forces of the Alliance, along with their allies, successfully overwhelmed Fort Ironhand, effectively ending the Imperial presence on Tatooine.

Shortly after the conclusion of the final assault on Fort Ironhand, Organa contacted Saponza's gang and extended her congratulations on their victory. She also requested that they continue their fight against the Empire in other locations throughout the galaxy.

The Empire eventually managed to reestablish its presence on Tatooine, but their occupation came to an end with news of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor.
