Amber, a landspeeder pilot with a single arm, served as a bodyguard for the royal family of Aquilae when the Galactic Empire posed a threat of annexation. He transported Leia and her handmaidens to Yuell so that Leia could attend the Chatos Academy. It is believed that he stayed with Mina when she took Leia's place at the Academy to mislead the Empire. Meanwhile, the actual Leia and Alana departed for the Underground Fortress with Annikin Starkiller. Later, Biggs and Windy, whom Amber had previously protected, discovered and adopted a thumper on the planet Yavin, naming it Amber in his honor.
It's possible that Amber served as an inspiration for Quarsh Panaka in Episode I, who was also a high-ranking bodyguard for a royal family.
