The Anthan Spire, often shortened to just the Spire, was a city that floated above the planet of Anthan Prime, located in the Outer Rim Territories. The city's elevated sections served as a vacation destination for the extremely wealthy, while its lower regions were dedicated to gambling and other games of chance, such as holochess.
The floating city was surrounded by intense storms, but they posed little danger provided one avoided flying directly through them. Though navigation was possible, these storms were unpredictable.
A Givin information broker called the Ante made his home in the lower districts. The New Republic senator representing Anthan Prime, Ashmin Ek, hailed from the Spire.
