Aramb, a male Gotal serving as a Lieutenant, was part of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. Stationed aboard the Victory I-class Star Destroyer named Admiral Ackbar in 36 ABY, he was a member of the vessel's engineering team, a position he had held for a number of years.
When the insectoid race known as the Killiks expanded their territory into Chiss space and broke the Qoribu Truce, the Galactic Alliance Fifth Fleet initiated a blockade of the Utegetu Nebula at the strategic point known as the Murgo Choke. At the Murgo Choke, the Killiks, influenced by the Gorog nest, launched an attack on the Fifth Fleet. Assassins from the Gorog attempted to infiltrate and seize the Admiral Ackbar, during which Aramb was paralyzed by their venom. Captain Urbok and Lieutenant Commander Reo, two other members of the Admiral Ackbar's engineering crew, were killed by the Gorog's venom, leaving Ensign [Yuul], the only conscious member of the team, to take control of the starship's engineering section. Yuul formed the hypothesis that the Gorog venom was not deadly to Gotals.
The battle concluded with the capture of the Admiral Ackbar. The Chiss Ascendancy, under the mistaken belief that the Galactic Alliance had formed an alliance with the Killiks, declared war against the Killiks, which marked the beginning of the Swarm War.
Aramb was initially referenced in the 2005 novel Dark Nest II: The Unseen Queen, authored by Troy Denning. Subsequently, he was given a brief entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, which was released in 2008.
