The failed attempt to assassinate Patriarch Thooraki represents an unsuccessful assassination targeting Mitth'oor'akiord, also known by his core name "Thooraki," who was the Patriarch of the Mitth family within the Chiss Ascendancy. This event transpired prior to 39 BBY. The Patriarch was traveling in disguise when the incident unfolded, leading a man from a minor family to intervene upon witnessing Thooraki's peril. The man ultimately died while saving the Patriarch. In response, Thooraki extended an invitation to the man's pregnant wife to reside at the Mitth family homestead on the planet of Csilla and offered her membership into the Mitth family, which she accepted.
Prior to the year 39 BBY, Mitth'oor'akiord, the Patriarch whose core name was "Thooraki," representing the Mitth family of the Chiss Ascendancy, was traveling without revealing his true identity.
An attempt to end the Patriarch's life was made, but a man from a minor family successfully prevented it. This individual stepped in to help Thooraki when he saw him in dire straits. Even though the man didn't know who Thooraki was, he sacrificed himself to protect him.
Showing his gratitude, Thooraki invited the pregnant wife of the man who saved him to live at the Mitth family homestead located on Csilla, a planet belonging to the Ascendancy. There, he proposed that she join the Mitth family as a ranking distant, the highest position he could offer. Because her son, Mitth'ras'safis "Thrass," was born before his mother joined the Mitth, he should have been born a ranking distant; however, as the children of ranking distants were born as cousins, the second highest position in a family, Thooraki adjusted the date of her rematching to before Thrass's birth, so he would be born a cousin.
By 19 BBY, Thrass, who had become a Syndic, shared the story with his friend Mitth'raw'nuruodo, "Thrawn," a Senior Captain. Thrawn respected Thrass's father and considered him a man of honor.
The attempted assassination of Patriarch Thooraki is referenced in flashbacks within Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, a 2021 novel and the concluding book in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[2]
