Auselio Gann, an archaeologist who was also affiliated with the Sith Imperial Reclamation Service, existed during the eras of the Great Galactic and Cold Wars. Talos Drellik was mentored by him and viewed him as a close and kind figure, similar to a beloved uncle, if not quite a father.
Not long after Talos Drellik's initial archeological discovery, Auselio Gann took him on as his apprentice.
Sometime before 3641 BBY, Gann encountered Drellik within a cantina located on Nar Shaddaa. Before his departure to Malachor III, he informed his protégé of his destination and gifted him a medallion. The medallion's exterior was made from a metal that would melt when exposed to high temperatures, revealing a heat-resistant casing hidden inside. Within this casing was a data chip containing Gann's recorded intention to delve into the tomb of Vaius Antinus. Furthermore, the medallion's chain concealed a holofrequency that Auselio Gann could use to transmit messages to Drellik.
Following his exploration of the tomb of Vaius Antinus on Alderaan, Gann journeyed to Aduba-6 with the purpose of investigating the tomb of Antinus's apprentice. While there, he utilized the medallion's holofrequency to communicate a message to Talos Drellik. Due to the interest of independent Sith and Jedi factions in uncovering the tomb's hidden knowledge, Gann found himself being hunted by both groups. In an attempt to utilize the tomb's defenses against his pursuers, he deliberately imprisoned himself inside, ultimately resulting in his death within.
