Avedot Cakes were a type of cake suitable for vegetarians, conceived by Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs. Tuggs created them after a visit to the Moon of Avedot located within the Colonies. This trip was part of a galaxy-wide culinary exploration that spanned from 34 ABY to 35 ABY. Inspired by the moon's radiant orange skies, Tuggs baked these miniature cakes aboard his food freighter soon after his visit. He utilized orange root vegetables he had previously gathered during a stop on the planet Hynestia Prime.
These damp, brownish cakes offered a balanced flavor profile of both spice and sweetness. They were topped with white frosting and a green decorative element. Served in a brown container, they revealed vibrant colors upon being eaten. Tuggs shared the cake recipe in his third cookbook, titled The Ultimate Cookbook, which saw publication in 35 ABY.
The Avedot Cakes recipe was developed for the 2023 release of Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a culinary guide authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the cake calls for all-purpose flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, kosher salt, large eggs, vanilla extract, and also shredded carrots. The frosting requires softened cream cheese, unsalted butter, confectioners' sugar, maple syrup, more vanilla extract, more cinnamon, more kosher salt, heavy whipping cream, as well as sliced pecans, and chives.
