Residing in the Colonies region, the planet Avedot was orbited by a mountainous moon known as the Moon of Avedot. This moon housed Base 354-23X, an impound facility once operated by the New Republic. Although the base was ultimately shut down, it still contained a stockpile of weapons seized from pirates many years prior. During the war against the First Order in 34 ABY, Resistance members Poe Dameron and Finn undertook a mission to raid the abandoned base for much-needed supplies.
A crew of bounty hunters called the Kendoh Gang, who were after the First Order's bounty on Finn, pursued the Resistance operatives. The Kendoh Gang almost managed to capture them, but Finn and Dameron successfully escaped with the majority of the confiscated weaponry. By 35 ABY, the Artiodac chef Strono "Cookie" Tuggs made a brief stop on the moon, which gave him the inspiration to create cakes known as Avedot Cakes.
Located within both the Colonies and [the Interior](/article/the_interior] regions, the Moon of Avedot was a terrestrial moon situated in grid square L-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid. It orbited the planet Avedot. The moon's surface was characterized by rocky, mountainous terrain. It possessed a Type I atmosphere that was breathable for various species, including humans, as well as Aqualish and Clawdites. The sky above the moon was a vibrant orange, while its appearance from space was blue.
During the reign of the New Republic, they maintained a clandestine impound facility on the Moon of Avedot known as Base 354-23X. This facility served as storage for vehicles and weapons confiscated from pirates. Although the facility was eventually shut down, its contents remained behind, and the New Republic later fell.

In 34 ABY, during the war between the Resistance and the First Order, the Resistance needed to find additional supplies and weapons. Finn and Poe Dameron, members of the Resistance, were dispatched to meet a contact at the Wayward Comet refueling station. This contact informed them about a stash of confiscated weapons stored at Base 354-23X. Dameron and Finn, accompanied by a team of Resistance operatives, traveled to the moon. However, they were being tracked by the mercenary group known as the Kendoh Gang, led by Kendoh Voss, who sought to capture Finn and claim the bounty offered by the First Order. Dameron successfully located the weapons cache, but the bounty hunters killed the other Resistance operatives while chasing Finn.
The Kendoh Gang managed to trap the two Resistance operatives inside Base 354-23X, unaware of Dameron's presence. Finn drew the mercenaries away from Dameron, allowing Dameron to load the supplies onto the Resistance team's starship. However, Voss soon found Dameron and approached him, intending to collect the bounties on both Resistance operatives. At that moment, BB-8, Dameron's droid, rolled an armed thermal detonator into the base. The subsequent explosion enabled Dameron to escape, but it also triggered the remaining weapons, causing the base to become unstable. Finn and Dameron then left with the weapons they had acquired, successfully evading the Kendoh Gang, who also evacuated the base before its destruction. Following this incident, the stormtroopers of the First Order's 709th Legion stationed on the planet Batuu harbored resentment towards the Kendoh Gang because of their failure on the Moon of Avedot.

Sometime between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, Strono "Cookie" Tuggs, an Artiodac chef, visited the moon aboard his food freighter. It was a brief stop during a culinary tour of the galaxy. Tuggs believed that the Moon of Avedot was not the best place in the Colonies to find food, as it mainly consisted of mountains and the New Republic impound lot. The moon's vibrant orange skies inspired Tuggs to create a batch of cakes known as Avedot Cakes upon his return to his freighter.
In 35 ABY, the chef documented his journey to the Moon of Avedot and included the Avedot Cakes recipe in his cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook. Within the book, Tuggs mentioned that although the cakes were not served on the moon itself, he guaranteed that anyone who ate the cake would discover a small piece of the Moon of Avedot in each bite.

Located on a mountainside on the Moon of Avedot was Base 354-23X, a New Republic impound storage facility. This impound, used for storing vehicles and weapons confiscated from pirates, was eventually abandoned, and its security systems were deactivated. During the Resistance's conflict with the Kendoh Gang, the ammunition and weapons within the impound were detonated, leading to its complete destruction.
