During the Cold War era, a Human male named Averdon served the Galactic Republic as their ambassador to Nar Shaddaa. This was during the time of the reconstituted Sith Empire. His mission was to forge a pact with the notorious Hutt Cartel.
Serving as an ambassador for the Galactic Republic during the Cold War with the Sith Empire, Averdon was a male Human. Around 3643 BBY, Averdon was stationed on Nar Shaddaa, the moon orbiting Nal Hutta, the Hutts' planet of origin. Averdon sought to establish alliances for the Republic within the ranks of the Hutt Cartel, and he had begun to establish an alliance with the Hutt Bareesh Fenn'ak Torill. The Republic had purchased the Nikto Sector from the Hutts to establish a base, but the Nikto street gang known as the Kintan Kings had taken over the area.
Near Deucalon Spaceport, a Republic-aligned individual retrieved Republic passcodes that the Kintan Kings had pilfered from Minister Plennid and then handed them over to Averdon at Bareesh's Mercantile Exchange. Subsequently, Averdon and Bareesh enlisted the individual's aid in retrieving a shipment of cybernetic combat implants—a gift from Bareesh intended for the Republic—that had been stolen by the Kintan Kings. Averdon and the Hutt cautioned them about the Kings, mentioning they had murdered a Jedi assisting the ambassador and displayed their corpse in the streets.
The individual journeyed to the Nikto Sector, battling through the gang's forces to recover the implants. Upon delivering the implants to Bareesh's contact, Nurkolas, Nurkolas attempted to bribe them into stealing some of the implants. Upon their refusal, Nurkolas relented and got in touch with Averdon and Bareesh. Averdon informed the individual that the Kings had initiated a slaving operation, which the individual promptly dismantled. However, this action drew the personal animosity of the Kings' leader, the Mountain. To prevent the Mountain from detonating bombs across Nar Shaddaa, the individual confronted and defeated the five Nikto brothers, despite their Morgukai training.
Through these events, the individual discovered that Bareesh had formerly led the Kings. Bareesh requested that this information be kept secret from Averdon, as it would jeopardize his alliance with the Republic. Instead, the individual pressured him to reveal his past to the ambassador. Recognizing the Republic's scarcity of allies on Nar Shaddaa, Averdon consented to continue working with Bareesh, albeit with increased vigilance.
Averdon later contacted the individual to express his gratitude, revealing that the Republic had terminated contact with Bareesh and was now seeking new allies on Nar Shaddaa.
Averdon first appeared in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare on December 20, 2011. He is a figure in the Republic's main set of side quests, where the player can choose to reveal Bareesh's past for light side points or conceal it for dark side points.
