Lar Kantayan

Lar Kantayan was a male human who held the position of agent within the ranks of the Imperial Security Bureau. Before the [destruction of Jedha City](/article/destruction_of_jedha_city] took place, the ISB dispatched Kantayan to infiltrate the Partisans, where he collaborated with Staven. Due to his lack of success in achieving any objectives during his assignment, the Empire recalled Kantayan and reassigned him to the planet of Vardos. While stationed on Vardos, Kantayan operated under the assumed name Azen Novaren and remained in communication with Staven, who had risen to the leadership of the Dreamers following the death of Saw Gerrera on Jedha. Based on a recommendation from the Mentor, Novaren enlisted the disgraced Imperial Iden Versio after she faced accusations of sedition.

During a mission to the planet Affadar, Gideon Hask, a member of Inferno Squad, falsely accused Novaren of planting a homing beacon on the group's shuttle. This action alerted the Empire to the Dreamers' location, leading to the deaths of Kaev and Nadrine. After returning to the Dreamers' encampment on Jeosyn and uncovering evidence of his treachery, the Dreamers subjected Novaren to torture for seven hours before ultimately killing him.
