B-U4D

B-U4D, also known as "Buford," was a heavy loader droid functioning around thirty years post the Battle of Endor, and he was a member of the Resistance. This droid, B-U4D, was a powerfully built loader, protected by yellow ceramic armor plating. Stationed on D'Qar, B-U4D was integrated into the ground crew, responsible for the upkeep of the Resistance's starfighters. A resilient and diligent worker, Buford was among the numerous Resistance droids who were given autonomy and regarded as collaborators in their mission, rather than simply tools.

Behind the scenes

B-U4D's character was initially introduced within the Databank area of StarWars.com as part of the promotional activities leading to the debut of the movie Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens back in 2015. Subsequently, the character made an appearance as a secondary, almost unnoticed character within the movie itself. During the film's pre-production in September 2013, creature concept designer Jake Lunt Davies developed concept artwork of B-U4D, labeling it "Resistance Base Droid H012".
