Balfus was a Wookiee residing on the planet of Kashyyyk circa 41 BBY. As preparations unfolded for Life Day, a significant Wookiee celebration, he was captured by Trandoshan hunters and held as a prisoner, alongside other Wookiees and the esteemed Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Ultimately, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jinn's Padawan, orchestrated a rescue with the aid of fellow Wookiees. This led to the Trandoshan hunters' surrender and the liberation of all captives.
Around 41 BBY, Balfus was a Wookiee living on Kashyyyk, a planet situated within the Mytaranor sector of the Mid Rim's. As Life Day, a crucial Wookiee festival, approached, Trandoshan hunters exploited the Wookiees' vulnerability during this time to abduct Balfus. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who was present on Kashyyyk with his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to study the Wookiees, inquired about Balfus's whereabouts from Brennonn, a fellow villager. Brennonn reported him as missing. Subsequently, the Trandoshans attacked the Wookiee village, capturing more Wookiees and Jinn himself.
Kenobi eventually freed the Wookiees, beginning by liberating Jinn. He opened Jinn's cage using the Force and tossed his Master's lightsaber to him. As Jinn was released, additional Wookiee warriors arrived to assist the two Jedi. The hunters then capitulated and set the captive Wookiees free.
Balfus was referenced in the comic story "Life Day," featured in the third issue of the Star Wars Adventures comic book released on February 3, 2021. Michael Moreci penned the comic story, while Megan Levens and Charlie Kirchoff provided the illustrations. It served as the first part of a two-part narrative, continued with "Life Day Part 2" in the fourth issue on March 24, 2021.
