During the High Republic Era, Sevran Tarkin of Eriadu, belonging to the Tarkin family, formed a bond with an Eriadu veermok named Balinta. Originally, Tarkin intended to hunt a creature of its kind to redeem her reputation, but she changed her mind, understanding that she could gain an ally in the veermok by demonstrating her own weakness. Following her restoration and rise to leadership within the family, Tarkin was almost always in Balinta's company, with Balinta accompanying her everywhere. In an effort to uncover the reason for Tarkin's clandestine absences, Jedi Knight Qort and Emelsine Tarkin, another member of the Tarkin family, exploited Balinta's connection to find Tarkin.
