Baltarian freighter

A Baltarian freighter, which was docked at Gordon on the planet Aquilae, served as transportation for Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia, Biggs, Windy, Artwo, Threepio and Annikin Starkiller in their attempt to flee from the occupying forces of the Galactic Empire.

The Baltarian people's unique attire allowed the adults to blend in as "crew members," while the two young boys were concealed within microcases and placed into a state of suspended animation, sustained by the ultimate sacrifice of Kane Starkiller, who used his chest power source.

The vessel was characterized by its tight confines, featuring narrow passageways and a compact cockpit. Regrettably for the protagonists, the supposed captain of the ship turned out to be none other than Valorum, a Sith Lord.

Within the ship were areas designated as "Hold B" and "Hold G," where the imprisoned "crew" members were confined. The Jedi, however, were not easily captured and managed to liberate everyone else. They made their escape from the freighter before it could initiate its departure.

Behind the scenes

  • As the heroes make their way out of the freighter, they are forced to squeeze through a rapidly closing hatch, which is similar to the blast doors that were present on the Death Star in Episode IV .

  • The Baltarian freighter ultimately evolved into what is known as the AA-9 Coruscant freighter
