Barolians constituted a sentient species. In the time of the High Republic Era, two Barolian pilots, Jano Brayson and Teff, were members of the Republic Defense Coalition's Firebird Squadron; both originated from Baroli.
The first canonically appearance of Barolians was in the 2021 audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner, which Cavan Scott wrote as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project. The identification of the species was exclusive to the audio play's script book, released in 2022. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Barolians were a Human race native to the planet Baroli who could be recognized by their blue hair.
