The clash between the Kumauri Empire and the Republic represented a portion of the war waged between the Kumauri Empire and the Galactic Republic. This war erupted after the warlord Vall Kumauri seized control of a few dozen star systems circa 10,000 BBY. The engagement, which included Kumauri's flagship, was later immortalized in a fresco situated within a Kumauri Empire palace located on a Outer Rim Territories moon. The Republic ultimately vanquished Kumauri's empire, leading to its swift collapse within a handful of years following its inception. By 3643 BBY, the battle between the Kumauri Empire and the Republic had largely faded from memory. It was at this time that the palace on the Outer Rim moon was unearthed. An individual connected to one of the factions involved in the ongoing struggle between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire eventually dispatched a companion to investigate the structure, and this companion subsequently uncovered the fresco depicting the battle.
Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 video game crafted by BioWare, featured a mention of the battle between the Kumauri Empire and the Republic within an Archaeology Crew Skill mission. However, details concerning the mission's conclusion were subsequently excised from the game.
