Battle of Cularin (21 BBY)

The Battle of Cularin occurred during the Clone Wars, resulting in the removal of the Thaereian military from the Cularin system.

Prelude

The Galactic Senate's decree that the Thaereian Military should vacate the Cularin system was ignored due to their clandestine alliance with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. This led to a blockade of the system. In response, Major Xirossk of the Militia orchestrated an attack on the Military's sole land base within the system, situated on Dorumaa. This attack successfully captured the base. Consequently, the remaining Thaereian forces were confined to their fleet located in the Cularin comet cloud. Xirossk convened with other high-ranking Militia officers aboard the Cularin 1 to devise a plan to assault the Thaereian fleet. Furthermore, the crimelord Nirama contributed a squadron of starfighters to bolster the Militia's offensive.

The battle

The Militia fleet initiated an assault, engaging the Thaereian Navy. The Heroes of Cularin also moved towards the Thaereian ships and numerous fighters were deployed to repel them. Subsequently, they were instructed to attack one of the Thaereian corvettes, bombarding it with missiles while simultaneously enduring fire from the ship's turbolasers.

An approaching fleet was detected, which Colonel Jir Tramsig believed to be Thaereian reinforcements. He issued a demand for the Militia's surrender via a comm channel. With the situation appearing dire, Xirossk launched a final bid for victory by ordering all Militia ships to target the Thaereian flagship, the Indefatigable, hoping to eliminate Tramsig. However, the arriving fleet turned out to be a Republic fleet under the command of Captain Meeba. They deployed their starfighters, engaging the Thaereian ships and forcing them to disperse. Despite this, Tramsig refused to concede and ordered the Indefatigable to fire upon the Militia ships, particularly the Cularin 1. Ultimately, the Indefatigable was destroyed, resulting in Tramsig's death.

Aftermath

The Thaereians were finally expelled from the Cularin system, enabling it to become a fully enfranchised, voting member of the Republic. The Cularin Militia was subsequently renamed the "Cularin Armed Forces" and integrated into the Grand Army of the Republic.
