During the Great Galactic War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Empire's attempted invasion of the planet Karideph was repelled by Republic forces. These forces were commanded by Jedi Master Orgus Din alongside Lieutenant Harron Tavus from Havoc Squad, an elite unit within the Republic Special Forces Division. This battle was a component of the twenty-eight-year Minos Cluster Campaign. As a result of their courage displayed throughout the conflict, both Din and Tavus earned the title "Heroes of Karideph."
In 3681 BBY, the Sith Empire resurfaced in the galaxy, initiating the Great Galactic War against the Galactic Republic. To seize control of the resource-rich Minos Cluster, the Imperial Military launched a campaign. For the war's entire twenty-eight years, Jedi and the Republic Army clashed with the Imperial Army and their Sith commanders across the entire sector.
Orgus Din, a Jedi Master, spent considerable time in the Minos Cluster. By the war's conclusion, he had participated in more battles alongside Republic soldiers than any other surviving Jedi. Following the Republic victory at the Battle of Alderaan in 3667 BBY, Harron Tavus joined Havoc Squad, an elite unit of the newly established Special Forces Division. He was eventually deployed to the Minos Cluster. Tavus and Din quickly forged a friendship, and together they spearheaded numerous successful raids by Republic forces against Imperial forces within the Minos Cluster.
Prior to the war's end in 3653 BBY, the Empire attempted an invasion of Karideph, a planet known for its foodstuffs production. However, Orgus Din and Harron Tavus spearheaded a Republic Military counteroffensive on Karideph. This successfully thwarted the Imperial invasion, compelling the Empire to abandon their efforts.
Din and Tavus were both recognized as "Heroes of Karideph" due to their courage and leadership shown during the battle. They remained in the Minos Cluster, continuing to fight until the Empire withdrew its forces in 3653 BBY as a peace offering.
The battle of Karideph was initially mentioned in the 2012 reference book, Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, within the entry dedicated to Orgus Din.
