Battle of Kirrek (Unification Wars)

This clash, known as the Battle of Kirrek, transpired around 5000 BBY. It occurred during the Unification Wars that engulfed the Koros system. After successfully uniting six of the seven planets within the Koros system, the political figure Empress Teta gave the order to conquer Kirrek, the last remaining independent world. However, an initial group of Teta's soldiers found themselves under siege by a army composed of Kirrek rebels, forcing them to seek refuge within a hastily constructed fortress. Following a month-long standoff, Teta launched a comprehensive military offensive, spearheaded by the Jedi Memit Nadill and Odan-Urr. By utilizing the Force power referred to as battle meditation, the Jedi played a crucial role in guiding Teta's forces to victory, ultimately leading to the unification of the Koros system.

Prelude

Circa 5000 BBY, within the Koros system, Empress Teta, a prominent political leader, initiated a war with the goal of uniting the seven planets of the system. Teta's vision involved establishing a system-wide government and fostering mutual commerce and aid among the united worlds. Her forces achieved success in unifying six of the seven planets. The only remaining independent world within the Koros system was Kirrek. Kirrek lacked a formally organized military, relying instead on a disparate collection of pirates and rebels, all under the leadership of a man named Llaban.

To secure Kirrek, the Tetan forces initially deployed a preliminary contingent of soldiers onto the planet. However, the rebel guerrilla fighters put up a strong resistance, encircling the Tetan soldiers within the confines of a hastily erected citadel, which the rebels then besieged. Critical reinforcements were unable to reach the besieged soldiers due to a rebel-established blockade in orbit, with the rebels actively targeting any approaching ships. The citadel endured a siege lasting over a month, during which the rebels responded to any attempts to assist the soldiers by slaughtering hostages. Given the precarious situation of the Tetan soldiers, opportunities arose for starship crews to earn money by delivering supplies to the soldiers using their personal vessels. One such vessel was the Shadow Runner, piloted by Hok and Timar Daragon. After more than a month had passed, the Tetan forces gained the support of a JediOdan-Urr, a Draethos scholar with no prior combat experience. Odan-Urr joined forces with Memit Nadill, another Jedi and Teta's personal advisor, in an effort to break the blockade and relieve the besieged soldiers.

Despite Teta's apprehension that a full-scale military assault would result in a bloodbath, Odan-Urr presented a solution—an unconventional Force power known as battle meditation, capable of bolstering the morale of Teta's soldiers while simultaneously eroding the Kirrek rebels' will to fight. Odan-Urr and Nadill effectively employed this power during the assault, successfully demoralizing the rebels and forcing them into retreat. On the other side of the battle, the besieged soldiers were overjoyed at the sight of the approaching Tetan forces coming to their rescue. However, the battle meditation had an unforeseen consequence: it unleashed the rebels' last reserves of desperation, causing them to target weaker targets in a final attempt to inflict as much damage as possible before their inevitable defeat. This resulted in the destruction of numerous supply ships en route to aid the Tetan soldiers, as these ships lacked the heavy armor of military vessels. Ultimately, the Tetan forces emerged victorious, with the battle meditation playing a crucial role in saving lives and preventing a particularly bloody conflict.

Aftermath

Following the Tetan victory at the Battle of Kirrek, the seven worlds of the Koros system were finally united. Although armed resistance persisted for some time on Kirrek and other planets, these efforts ultimately failed to achieve independence. Teta was crowned Empress of the entire Koros system, which was subsequently renamed the "Empress Teta system." Among the supply ships destroyed during the battle was the Shadow Runner. In the aftermath, the Daragons' children, Gav and Jori Daragon, inherited the Daragons' other ship, the Starbreaker 12. This event would prove to be a pivotal moment in galactic history, as the Daragons, aboard the Starbreaker 12, embarked on a blind hyperspace jump, leading to their discovery of the Sith Empire and igniting the Great Hyperspace War.
