Beetle Cave

SennexCaveInterior Inside the Beetle Cave, one could find the bones of a krayt dragon that had died eighty years before.

On the Tatooine world, situated in the Outer Rim, there existed a cave known as the Beetle Cave. During the Galactic Civil War era, this cave served as a hideout for a band of pirates called the Sennex.

Overview

The Beetle Cave's location was not too far to the south from the eastern oasis of the planet. It was also located some distance to the east of the Great Mesra Plateau and to the northeast of Mos Eisley. The cave teemed with various insect life, including cave beetles, rock beetles, and dune beetles.

Background

A resident of Mos Entha recounted a tale of his grandfather encountering a krayt dragon within the cave and striking it in the nose around 80 years before the Battle of Yavin which took place in 0 BBY. The commoner shared the cave's coordinates with a spacer, leading to the discovery of the dragon's skeletal remains. In 1 ABY, the Sennex, a ruthless band of pirates, established their base in the cave. After the wife and daughter of a moisture farmer were abducted and held for ransom inside the base, he pleaded with a spacer to rescue them. The spacer successfully completed the rescue, earning the Mark of Altruism for their efforts.

Behind the cameras

The Beetle Cave appeared as a location within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This massively multiplayer online roleplaying game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, prior to its closing on December 15, 2011. During certain quests given by a commoner, the datapad coordinates labeled the location as a Mysterious Cave.
