Benath was a planet characterized by its rocky terrain. This planet served as the original homeworld of the Benathy species. Its location was within the Mid Rim Territories, specifically identified as grid square I-7 on the Standard Galactic Grid. This area was also situated within the region referred to as Wild Space. A hyperspace route connected it to both the planet Ansion and the Utegetu Nebula.
The Benathy people of Benath were governed by a monarchy. They held a Zillo Beast in reverence, regarding it as a god. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, stormtroopers under the command of Sith Lord Darth Vader managed to subdue the Benathy by assassinating their king. However, they were unable to overcome the Zillo Beast.
Later, First Order stormtroopers, led by Vader's grandson, Kylo Ren, demanded that the reigning king, Kristoff, cease the Benathy's expansion. Ren also insisted on their submission to the First Order. Upon Kristoff's refusal, Ren executed him. The Benathy fought against Ren's forces until he ultimately defeated and killed the Zillo Beast. Subsequently, the Benathy yielded to Ren and chose to worship the First Order.
The initial appearance of Benath occurred in Age of Resistance - Kylo Ren 1. This was the ninth and concluding one-shot issue within the Star Wars: Age of Resistance anthology series of canon comic book, which was made available on September 25, 2019.
