The Caamasi were a sentient species that inhabited the galaxy. Possessing a snout, two pointed ears, and fur that was either brown or grey, they were known for their pacifistic nature, a trait they shared with the Alderaanians. This species lent its name to both the Caamasi cheese pies and the Caamasi light sculptures. During the High Republic Era, Ela Sutan, a Jedi Master of the Caamasi species, served on the Jedi High Council.
The Caamasi made their initial appearance in the canonical comic book miniseries Star Wars: Han Solo, specifically in its first issue. This comic, penned by Marjorie Liu, with illustrations by Mark Brooks, was released by Marvel Comics on June 15, 2016. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Caamasi were first introduced in the 1997 novel Specter of the Past, authored by Timothy Zahn.
