Camp Three (Serroco)

Camp Three was a military installation of the Republic Navy that was founded on the planet of Serroco in 3963 BBY. This occurred during the Mandalorian Wars fought between the Republic and the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, when the Mandalorian warrior clans threatened the world. Admiral Saul Karath of the Republic ordered that Camp Three be situated close to one of Serroco's Stereb cities. The ship Little Bivoli was stationed at Camp Three, and the mess hall quickly gained popularity among the soldiers stationed there.

When the Mandalorians made their way to Serroco, they launched a volley of nuclear bombs. This barrage destroyed the Republic camps, including Camp Three, a display of contempt from chief Mandalore the Ultimate for what he deemed a dishonorable defense. However, not everyone at Camp Three perished. Marn Hierogryph, the owner of Little Bivoli, and his cook, Slyssk, managed to steal a Republic troop transport and escape just in the time, rescuing numerous Republic soldiers in the process.

Description

During the Mandalorian Wars, Camp Three served as one of the Republic Navy's military camps on the muddy and rainy planet of Serroco. Adhering to Republic Navy tactics, the camp was positioned near the edge of a Stereb cities, which were large settlements comprised of stone towers and pyramids built by the indigenous Stereb species. The camp consisted of several ships, including Republic vessels and those of fringers, which functioned as barracks, restaurants, and other facilities for Republic soldiers. Among these ships were many Hammerhead-class cruisers, troop transports that housed naval personnel, and the Little Bivoli, a fringer mess ship that became a popular spot for the personnel of Camp Three.

The Little Bivoli featured the culinary talents of Slyssk, a Trandoshan cook. However, the establishment was managed by two of the Republic's most wanted fugitives: Zayne Carrick, a former Jedi Padawan who was wanted for his alleged role in the Padawan Massacre on Taris, and Marn Hierogryph, a Snivvian labeled as his "accomplice." Given the location of the compound on the "mudhole" that was Serroco, Republic personnel had problems staying dry at Camp Three. In addition to the soldiers, the native Stereb inhabitants of Serroco also frequented the camp, scavenging for scraps. An occupied control tower managed air traffic to and from Camp Three, while loudspeakers alerted Republic servicemen to any enemy presence in the system. To defend against potential attacks, Camp Three, like the other camps on Serroco, was equipped with a missile defense system, though it was not activated unless an assault was anticipated.

History

The Little Bivoli, situated at Camp Three

In the year 3963 BBY, the Mandalorian warrior clans, during their campaign against the Galactic Republic, posed a threat to Serroco, a world in the Expansion Region and a full member of the Republic. Anticipating a Mandalorian assault, Admiral Saul Karath of the Republic Navy assembled a battle group and set out to defend Serroco. Karath's strategy involved positioning his camps near Stereb cities, believing that the Mandalorians would avoid directly attacking them to prevent damaging valuable loot.

Following this directive, Camp Three was constructed on the outskirts of one of the Stereb cities. Spacelift jockeys, including skilled pilot Carth Onasi, landed many of the ships that made up the settlement. Karath himself conducted a tour of Camp Three shortly after it was established. The Little Bivoli eatery quickly became a popular destination within Camp Three, allowing proprietor Marn Hierogryph to amass a considerable amount of money. His partner, Zayne Carrick, a wanted Republic fugitive, remained discontent, desiring an opportunity to clear his name. As the Mandalorians approached, Carrick, who had been trying to persuade Hierogryph to move shop, experienced a Force vision depicting the destruction of Serroco by the Mandalorians.

Disturbed by this vision, Carrick decided to warn Karath. He stowed away on Onasi's ship from Camp Three to Karath's flagship, the Courageous. Carrick successfully reached the ship's bridge, but he was recognized and detained. Shortly thereafter, Mandalorian forces arrived in the system, triggering the proximity alarms at Camp Three. The proceedings began with the Mandalorians launching a barrage of nuclear missiles. Carrick could only witness his vision becoming a reality. The missiles, initially appearing to target Karath's ships, veered around the Republic fleet and struck the camps, a tactic employed by Mandalore the Ultimate to punish the Republic for what he considered a dishonorable defense. The missile defense system at Camp Three was not operational at the time, resulting in the camp's obliteration.

Despite the camp's destruction, some individuals managed to escape. Hierogryph and Slyssk from the Little Bivoli managed to board and steal a troop transport, successfully fleeing Serroco just in time. In doing so, they inadvertently rescued half of a sleeping battalion. Their actions were recognized, and they were honored as Republic heroes.
