The rebel group known as the Cloud-Riders, who aimed to overthrow the Galactic Empire, waged several campaigns against both the Empire and the Five Crime Syndicates, notably Crimson Dawn. Led by Enfys Nest, these rebels, who rode swoops into combat, executed daring heists, such as the raid on Gargon and the heist on Hovun IV. Encounters were frequent between the Cloud-Riders and the gang headed by Tobias Beckett, a smuggler who himself frequently collaborated with Crimson Dawn. The Cloud-Riders achieved a significant triumph in the showdown on Savareen, an event triggered by their ambition to seize a coaxium shipment. During this confrontation, Dryden Vos, the public face of Crimson Dawn, was killed, and Han Solo, a former Imperial corporal, was responsible for Beckett's death.
