A case officer is an intelligence officer responsible for enlisting operatives and overseeing their operations. In the era of the Clone Wars, Dodd Rancit served as a case officer within the Galactic Republic's intelligence agency. His role included famously providing counter-intelligence operatives to Commander Wilhuff Tarkin. Following the reorganization of the Republic into the initial Galactic Empire by Sheev Palpatine, the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) also employed case officers. For example, Stellan was one such officer, and he recruited the Koorivar spy known by the codename "Bracchia."
