Bracchia

"Bracchia" served as the codename for a Koorivar male operative who, in a dual role, provided intelligence to both the Galactic Republic and, subsequently, the Galactic Empire. During the era of the Clone Wars, he lent his support to Wilhuff Tarkin's counter-Shadowfeed efforts situated on Murkhana. In the year 14 BBY, a ruse orchestrated by Vice Admiral Dodd Rancit led Bracchia, along with his Imperial Security Bureau supervisor Stellan, to falsely report a communications depot on Murkhana. This deception ultimately facilitated the theft of Tarkin's vessel, the Carrion Spike, by the insurgent leader Berch Teller, thus initiating an insurgency.

Biography

During the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars] era, Bracchia functioned as an operative for the Galactic Republic, notably aiding Wilhuff Tarkin in his undertaking against Shadowfeed on Murkhana. As the war concluded, Palpatine, the Republic's Chancellor, issued a proclamation declaring himself Emperor, ushering the galaxy into the age of the initial Galactic Empire. Bracchia continued his service under the new regime, becoming an intelligence asset within the Imperial Security Bureau.

In 14 BBY, Bracchia was assigned by his ISB case officer, Stellan, to investigate a cache located within a disused medcenter on Murkhana. The Koorivar agent successfully located the cache and provided a preliminary report regarding his assignment, which led to local Imperial forces placing the location under surveillance. Later, he underwent interrogation by Moff Tarkin, as well as Darth Vader, the Emperor's enforcer. Bracchia provided answers to the questions posed to him. Following the theft of Tarkin's corvette, Carrion Spike, by the insurgent leader Berch Teller, Bracchia was instrumental in assisting them to obtain a replacement starship, the Parsec Predator, from Faazah, a crime lord affiliated with the Sugi.

During Teller's insurgency, Bracchia and Stellan both faced interrogation by the Emperor himself, who sought to uncover any conspirators within the ranks of Imperial security personnel. When questioned regarding the communications cache on Murkhana, he informed the Emperor that he possessed no knowledge of the communications devices themselves, but was merely executing a directive originating from Coruscant. Stellan, his case officer, then informed the Emperor that Military Intelligence had provided the ISB with a holovid depicting the communications cache on Murkhana, prompting him to dispatch Bracchia to verify its existence. The Emperor then deduced that the holovid was a fabrication, created by an individual with access to Imperial codes and the means to manipulate the HoloNet.

Concurrently, Lord Vader and Tarkin uncovered that Vice Admiral Dodd Rancit, the Director of the Naval Intelligence Agency, had conceived the plan involving the communications cache and was collaborating with Teller. Rancit's intent behind planting the cache was to draw Tarkin to Murkhana, enabling Teller and his followers to seize the Carrion Spike and subsequently launch attacks on Imperial installations throughout the galaxy. This information enabled the Imperials to subdue Rancit and Teller's rebel cell.
