Shadowfeeds, functioning as unsanctioned holofeeds, were employed by Count [Dooku], the leader of the Separatist Alliance, to disseminate propaganda that supported the Separatist cause and denigrated the Galactic Republic throughout the Clone Wars. These Shadowfeeds arose from acts of sabotage targeting established HoloNet systems. Senator [Ansibella Dellu], a Separatist representative, oversaw the Shadowfeed operations within Republic-controlled space.
Due to swift action, Republic Intelligence managed to dismantle many of these Shadowfeeds, ultimately prompting the establishment of the Commission for the Protection of the Republic. [Wilhuff Tarkin], the governor ruling over the planet Eriadu, played a key role in thwarting Dooku's efforts by supplying counterintelligence that facilitated the shutdown of his Shadowfeeds during the Clone Wars.
Shadowfeeds persisted into the time of the Galactic Empire, at this point disseminating information that the Empire sought to suppress. Sabine Wren, an operative belonging to the Spectres cell of the rebel, kept watch over Shadowfeeds and uncovered insights, such as the significance of moss painting on Alderaan. Criminal organizations, notably Black Sun and Crimson Dawn, also exploited the Shadowfeeds for their own purposes.
