Chenachochan existed as a riverside city situated on the planet Kashyyyk.
This city, Chenachochan, was located on the Wookiee homeworld known as Kashyyyk. Following the Battle of Endor, the city's surroundings included three Galactic Empire jammers. Chenachochan itself had fallen under the control of the Empire and Trandoshan slavers. The city contained a command center, prefab shelters, and military structures such as a troop center.
Not long after the birth of the Galactic Empire, specifically in 19 BBY, Chenachochan endured an attack during the Imperial occupation of Kashyyyk.
In 4 ABY, after their escape from the city of Okikuti and the trap set by the Wookiee Weebacca, New Republic members Han Solo and Chewbacca, who was himself a Wookiee, arrived at Chenachochan and encountered Shoran. From that location, they gathered a Wookiee army with the goal of destroying the three Imperial jammers, allowing them to communicate the situation on Kashyyyk to the New Republic. Subsequently, the city was infiltrated and liberated by the Wookiee army, becoming a base of operations for the assault on Moff Darcc's palace.
The strategy guide for the video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, released in 2001, provided the first mention of Chenachochan. It was featured and identified for the first time during two missions in the Chewbacca campaign. These missions, and therefore the city, were also present in the game's 2002 expansion, Clone Campaigns. In the second mission, Trandoshan and Imperial buildings are scattered across the map, holding captive Wookiee units. The player has the option to free each of these units. In both missions, the size of the player's army is a choice made by the player.
