Cloud Mountain mines

The Cloud Mountain mines represent an abandoned mining site located on Cloud Mountain. The Cularin resistance repurposed these mines as their operational headquarters. Originally excavated by Sunburst Mining, the mines proved to be unprofitable, leading to their abandonment. However, Sunburst left behind some security droids to safeguard their legal claim to the site.

The entrance to the mines was situated approximately three-quarters of the way up the northern slope of Cloud Mountain, an area previously deforested by Sunburst. The mine's opening measured around three meters in height and six meters in width. The original blast doors that once secured the entrance were missing. The mines extended at least four kilometers into the mountain, utilizing turbocarts for swift transportation of personnel and materials. A section of the tunnel experienced a collapse beneath the turbocarts' magnetic rails, leaving the rails suspended above a 70-meter-deep chasm for a distance of over 100 meters.

Near the conclusion of Sunburst's mining endeavors, they engaged in the practice of drilling small, seemingly random holes into the mine walls. These holes were subsequently covered with meter-square plaques displaying the company's logo.

History

Upon the Cularin resistance's arrival, they implemented several security enhancements. These included the installation of a blast door at the base of the turbocart tracks, a room designed with compacting walls, and a chamber generating extreme heat. The mines interconnected with a network of natural-looking tunnels, possibly created by dua-wurms, which ultimately led to a sizable natural cavern. The resistance established their base within this cavern, featuring a massive, multicolored command center tent spanning over fifty meters in diameter, situated amidst a tent city illuminated by lights mounted on poles. They regarded it as a temporary base of operations, capable of being evacuated within a single day.

The Metatheran Cartel eventually discovered the base when a datapad pilfered from the Cartel's offices in Gadrin was brought into the mines. Cartel soldiers launched an assault, resulting in casualties among the resistance members, but were ultimately repelled. Shortly thereafter, the resistance conducted a raid on the Cartel's jungle base, uncovering evidence of Velin Wir's illicit activities, thereby eliminating the resistance's need for the base.
