Combined arms is a surface warfare strategy that involves integrating various military assets, such as infantry and armored cavalry, into a single operation. This approach was a favorite of the Galactic Empire's army. The intent behind this strategy was to force the enemy into a defensive posture against one form of attack, thereby exposing them to other vulnerabilities. A prime illustration of combined arms is seen with Major Marquand, the commander of the Imperial forces during the ground-based component of the Battle of Endor, who possessed a strong understanding of both combined arms assaults and well-coordinated cavalry maneuvers. The Grand Army of the Galactic Republic also employed combined arms during the Clone Wars. One instance of this was the use of assault gunships to target enemy vehicles while simultaneously deploying clone troopers onto the battlefield. Another example is clones fighting alongside armored vehicles like the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer in combat.
