By the year 37 BBY, a dispute on Bri'n had broken out involving the Metal Clan against the followers of Mistress Th'er, who was a priestess dedicated to wood. In that same year, the Jedi Order dispatched Qui-Gon Jinn, accompanied by his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, to the world. The chieftain of the Metal Clan tried to seize Th'er, hoping to use either her spoken words or her to eradicate her sacred trees. Hemmed in by Metal Clan warriors, Jinn opted to flee with Mistress Th'er aboard an Eta-class shuttle, making their way back to Coruscant. Following consultation with the Force for direction, Jinn conferred with Th'er, advising her to gather supporters for her cause to aid in the struggle against the Metal Clan.
