Coruscant Port Authority
The Coruscant Port Authority, which can also be written as the Coruscant port authority, functioned as an organization situated on Coruscant, the capital of the Imperial regime. Its duties encompassed the meticulous documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments. In 1 BBY, Senator Bail Organa attempted to attribute the ambiguity surrounding a missing consignment of UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft to a potential clerical error on the part of the authority, as stated in a communication to Imperial Security Bureau Chief Inspector Axvering. Later, in 3 ABY, this same authority implemented revised tax structures on the importation of organic goods, aiming to curb a market that was becoming excessively saturated.
Description
The Coruscant Port Authority, alternatively referred to as Coruscant port authority, was a body that operated on Coruscant, the capital city of the Galactic Empire, during the Imperial Era. The responsibilities of this authority included the systematic recording of shipments arriving at Coruscant, as well as the enforcement of taxes on imported goods.
History

Back in 1 BBY, a specific shipment of UT-60D U-wing starfighter/support craft, which had originated from Aldraig within the Alderaan sector, was stolen by the Alliance to Restore the Republic. This theft occurred before the shipment could reach its intended destination of Coruscant, which naturally resulted in the absence of any record of its arrival.
Chief Inspector Axvering, representing the Imperial Security Bureau, launched an investigation into the disappearance and directed a series of inquiries to Bail Organa, the senator representing the Alderaan sector. Organa, who had secretly orchestrated the theft as a prominent member of the Alliance, responded to Axvering with a letter. In this letter, he posited that the confusion might have stemmed from a potential mislogging of the shipment by the Coruscant Port Authority, thus explaining the lack of an arrival record. This letter, containing the reference to the Port Authority, was subsequently shared by Organa with his fellow rebels, Mon Mothma and General Airen Cracken, and was later preserved within the compilation of documents known as The Rebel Files.

In 3 ABY, the Coruscant Port Authority initiated new tax policies designed to counteract a market that had become excessively saturated. These new policies specifically targeted the import of organic goods. These updated models led to tax increases of up to fifteen percent on certain items. Following their announcement, these new models were covered by reporter Dorna Parros during a HoloNet News broadcast.
Behind the scenes
Within the established Star Wars canon, the Coruscant port authority received its initial mention in the 2017 reference publication titled Star Wars: The Rebel Files, authored by Daniel Wallace. The specific capitalization of "Coruscant Port Authority" was then utilized for the first time in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment. The Coruscant Port Authority has its origins in the Star Wars Legends storyline, where it was featured as a voice-only element in "The Collector," a comic strip penned by Rik Hoskin and featured in the magazine Star Wars: The Clone Wars Comic 6.42 on January 10, 2013.
