Crion

Crion, a Human male, held the position of father to both Xanatos and Nason. He was also the grandfather of Granta Omega. Furthermore, he served as the corrupt governor governing the planet known as Telos IV.

Biography

As the wealthiest individual on the planet, Crion possessed immense riches. He permitted his son, Xanatos, to pursue training as a Jedi on Coruscant. Over the course of years, Crion utilized the resources of Telos to amass wealth for the planet, swiftly rising to power without relying on his advisers or the Senate.

Before long, Crion had accumulated sufficient power to initiate an assault on neighboring systems. Nevertheless, Crion soon encountered a surge of disapproval and dissatisfaction from his constituents, prompting many to initiate an uprising. Recognizing his inability to effectively maneuver with both insurgents and the military present, he devised a strategy to unite Telos IV. To accomplish this, he sought the assistance of a failed Jedi named Dairoki to assassinate High Priestess Liora, a figure revered by both factions in the conflict. Simultaneously, he called for discussions with a nearby planet, Toprawa, as a diversion, with the intention of framing the Toprawans for the murder. Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Xanatos, along with Master Tahl and masterless padawan Orykan Tamarik arrived to delve into this situation. Crion requested his son's participation in his schemes; although initially hesitant, Xanatos eventually relented. Xanatos sabotaged the initial meeting to incite the Telosian population. However, events did not unfold as planned for the corrupt Lord. During one of Dairoki's propaganda attempts against the insurgents, the main Telosian palace was raided, resulting in the death of Crion's own daughter, Nason. Disgusted by Dairoki's flawed plans, he demanded that the former trainee leave his planet by any means necessary. Unfortunately for Crion, Dairoki persisted with the original plan and inadvertently revealed the conspiracy to one of the governor's top advisers, Hukowl An Devi, unaware that the Ithorian had been kept in the dark about it. This revelation allowed Hukowl to expose Crion as the true enemy of the planet, prompting the populace to revolt against their ruler. A civil war erupted, resulting in numerous casualties.

Crion dies before Qui-Gon Jinn can save him.

Before this civil war, Crion solicited Xanatos to join him. Xanatos agreed, thus failing his final Jedi trial. Qui-Gon was instructed to leave the planet by the Jedi Order because the situation spiraled out of control, and while he intended to comply, he was compelled to enter Crion's palace to find Xanatos. He was immediately attacked by the Lord and his royal guard. While Qui-Gon attempted to reason with Crion, Orykian emerged from behind and tried to assist the master, only to be shot in the arm and disarmed. While trying to stop Crion from killing the Padawan, Jinn shattered his sword with a single strike, inadvertently causing his Padawan's father to fall onto a burning charcoal bed. An enraged Xanatos appeared and challenged his master to a duel, labeling him a King's slayer. He renounced the Jedi and embraced his anger, succumbing to the dark side of the Force. Xanatos retrieved his father's charred ring and pressed it against his right cheek, creating a broken-circle scar that later became the symbol of the Offworld Mining Corporation.

The insurgents later recovered Crion's corpse.
