Crocodina

Crocodinas were creatures resembling crocodiles, characterized by their scaled heads featuring a pair of eyes and an elongated, slender snout equipped with a toothy maw. The Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, situated within the Mos Eisley spaceport on the planet Tatooine, showcased a crocodina head mounted on the wall adjacent to its bar, an event that occurred in 0 BBY.

Behind the scenes

The initial appearance of the crocodina head occurred in the 1977 motion picture Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, part of the original trilogy. This prop was incorporated into the set constructed on Stage 6 at Elstree Studios during filming between April 13 and 21, 1976; it was, in fact, a taxidermied head of a real-life gharial.

Pablo Hidalgo and Tom Spina initially brought the gharial head prop to the attention of fans during the "Secrets of the Mos Eisley Cantina" panel at Celebration Anaheim in 2015. The creature's identification occurred for the first time in 2024, when Spina's company, Regal Robot, created a magnet replica of the prop.
