During the period of conflict known as the Clone Wars, which took place from 22 BBY to 19 BBY, the Crombach Nebula became the location of a significant engagement. This battle involved Wom-Nii Gnaden, a Jedi Master from the Galactic Republic who was piloting an NTB-630 naval bomber, and a Munificent-class star frigate belonging to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In the nebula battle, Master Gnaden met his death when his bomber collided with the frigate, leaving damage on the starboard hull of the warship.
The first mention of the Crombach Nebula in the current Star Wars canon occurred within the pages of Star Wars: Complete Vehicles, a reference work released in 2018. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Crombach Nebula was initially introduced in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections, a reference book from 2005 written by Curtis Saxton. Its first depiction came later in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.
