Dante was a male Caphex who possessed sensitivity to the Force. As a Jedi, he served during the declining days of the Galactic Republic. Surviving the infamous Order 66 purge, he was later considered for a position within the Empire's burgeoning Inquisitorius, a group of Force-wielders responsible for hunting down the Jedi who remained scattered across the galaxy. However, in spite of his willingness to betray his former Jedi colleagues, Dante failed the final trial required for his full acceptance as an Inquisitor. Ultimately, he met his death at the hands of Barriss Offee, a Jedi he once knew.
Like all those considered for the Inquisitorius, Dante was originally a member of the Jedi Order. While training at the Jedi Temple, he knew both Barriss Offee and Ahmar, with Offee regarding him as an ally.

After the execution of Order 66, the clone army of the Galactic Republic nearly eradicated the Jedi Order. Dante avoided the initial massacre. Because he was identified as a potential candidate for the Inquisitorius—a dark side group of assassins focused on eliminating Jedi survivors—he was brought to Fortress Inquisitorius, located on the watery moon of Nur, for induction into the Imperial organization. Upon arriving at the base, Dante encountered Offee and Ahmar again. He was then introduced to the Grand Inquisitor, who informed him that the Republic had been reorganized into the Galactic Empire. Given the choice between serving the New Order or being executed, Dante quickly accepted the offer. He even encouraged his fellow hopefuls to do the same, urging them to follow the rules set by their new superiors. Ahmar, however, ignored this advice and attempted to escape the base, only to be quickly captured and killed.

Following testing by the Fourth Sister, Dante was deemed strong enough in the dark side of the Force to become an Inquisitor. He was then led into the depths of the Fortress for a final trial, along with Offee. The two candidates were taken to a circular arena surrounding a large sinkhole. Speaking from a platform above, the Grand Inquisitor announced that only one of them would be accepted into their ranks, and that they had to defeat the other to earn their place. The Grand Inquisitor activated a ray shield that slowly contracted, pushing Offee and Dante towards the edge of the sinkhole. He then threw a single-bladed red lightsaber at their feet, explaining that if they refused to fight, the ray shield would cause both of them to fall to their deaths. Although Offee tried to reason with Dante, believing the test was a trick, the Force-sensitive Caphex was determined to avoid becoming another casualty of the Jedi Purge. He seized the red lightsaber and attempted to kill Offee without hesitation. Despite initially having the advantage, Offee managed to gain the upper hand by embracing the dark side. She used Force choke to crush her former friend's neck, allowing his body to plummet into the abyss.
Dante makes an appearance in "Devoted," an episode from the 2024 animated television show Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. The name Dante is a common reference to the Italian poet Dante Alighieri.
