Darth Azamin, a Dark Lord of the Sith of either Human or Sith pureblood heritage, held a position on the ruling Dark Council of the reconstituted Sith Empire. During the Great Galactic War against the Galactic Republic, he also served as the head of the Sphere of Military Strategy. As the war neared its conclusion in 3653 BBY, Councilor Darth Vowrawn conspired with fellow Sith Lord Darth Decimus to eliminate Azamin. They orchestrated a strike team of Jedi to infiltrate Azamin's stronghold and assassinate him. Although the Jedi successfully carried out the assassination, they were killed when Decimus detonated their escape vessel. Azamin's demise paved the way for Decimus to join the Dark Council and assume control of the Sphere of Military Strategy for the duration of the Great Galactic War and the ensuing Cold War.
Darth Azamin's initial mention occurred within the Codex entry dedicated to Darth Decimus in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing video game developed by BioWare and released in 2011. Later, in 2012, the reference book Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia revealed Darth Vowrawn's involvement in the events leading to Azamin's death.
