During the era of conflict known as the Galactic War, which pitted the Sith Empire against the Galactic Republic, Darth Baras, a Sith Lord, launched an attempt to seize power via a coup. His goal was to usurp the role of Emperor's Voice. Baras, already seated on the governing Dark Council, harbored ambitions of sole dominion over the entire Empire. To achieve this, he took the genuine Emperor's Voice—the vessel containing the essence of the Sith Emperor—captive on the planet of Voss, all the while endeavoring to declare himself as the rightful Voice. Nevertheless, he double-crossed his own apprentice during this power play. Consequently, the Sith Warrior was elevated to the rank of Emperor's Wrath by the Emperor's Hand and began a pursuit of Baras's centers of power. The coup met its end when the Wrath killed Baras in their duel, an event that unfolded before the assembled members of the Dark Council.
