Darth Venemal

A male Human Sith Lord known as Darth Venemal fought for the reconstituted Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. Alongside Darth Malgus, another Sith Lord, he participated in the Empire's initial attack on the planet Ord Radama, which initially went well. Nevertheless, Venemal and Malgus's Sith troops received no reinforcements, and Galactic Republic starships assaulted their fleet in orbit. While Malgus tried to assist in the space battle, Venemal stayed in Livien Magnus, the capital. When a crippled Imperial Harrower-class dreadnought crashed into Livien Magnus, Venemal and many of the city's inhabitants perished.

Biography

During the Great Galactic War, a war across the galaxy between the Galactic Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire, Darth Venemal, a male Human, held the position of Sith Lord. In 3660 BBY, as part of the Empire's campaign to take control of worlds located in the Outer Rim Territories, Venemal and fellow Sith Lord Darth Malgus were given the responsibility of commanding Imperial forces. These forces included a legion of soldiers and a small fleet of warships from the Imperial Navy, with the objective to recapture the planet Ord Radama situated in the Esstran sector. Roughly three hundred years before, during the Jedi Civil War, this planet had been allied with the Sith Empire of Darth Revan and Darth Malak, but following the end of the Jedi Civil War, it was brought back into the Republic.

At first, their attack was successful and after approximately twenty days of fighting, their forces managed to seize control of Livien Magnus, the capital city of Ord Radama. Lord Adraas was sent by the Dark Council to provide assistance to Malgus and Venemal, and Adraas tried to claim credit for the accomplishments of the pair.

However, the Sith forces stationed on the planet did not receive any resupplies and were eventually defeated; Venemal was killed when a Harrower-class dreadnought crashed in the middle of Livien Magnus. Malgus could sense the deaths of a hundred thousand others along with his pain. The Sith Empire was compelled to retreat from Ord Radama, and Malgus was partially blamed for the defeat and Venemal's passing.

Behind the scenes

Daniel Wallace conceived Darth Venemal, who appeared in the 2012 book Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side. Wallace intended Venemal's name to allude to the quote "Veni, vidi, vici" by the statesman Julius Caesar.
