Plot summary

While enjoying a respite on Zelos II, the Weequay bounty hunter known as Diergu-Rea Duhnes'rd and his companion Solum'ke become participants in a treasure expedition alongside the Qwohog named K'zk. Local lore spoke of a submerged cache of riches within Zelosian's Chine, a distinctive coral formation situated in the Great Zelosi Sea. On the occasion of the Day of the Sepulchral Night, when the fourth moon of Zelos II aligned with the sun, the region's tides reached their nadir, supposedly revealing the treasure at its most accessible.

The indigenous Zelosians held deep-seated superstitions regarding the eclipse, choosing to remain sheltered indoors throughout the Day of the Sepulchral Night. Given K'zk's Qwohog physiology, exposure to seawater posed a risk, prompting him to propose a 50/50 division of any spoils with Diergu-Rea and Solum'ke.

En route to Zelosian's Chine, they came across two Corellian individuals, Hanugar and Sevik, who were survivors of a recent maritime disaster. K'zk and the Weequay extended a helping hand, rescuing the survivors and including them in their journey to Zelosian's Chine. Upon arrival, Diergu-Rea, Solum'ke, and Sevik ventured into a compact cavern, where they unearthed an abundance of crystals and jewels. The discovered wealth promised to secure their financial well-being indefinitely.

Abruptly, the diminutive cave began to flood as the eclipse neared its conclusion. Diergu-Rea and Solum'ke hastened to the surface, only to witness Sevik already embarking on the ship, aided by a repulsorlift belt. It became apparent that Sevik, Hanugar, and K'zk had been conspirators from the outset. Diergu-Rea and Solum'ke found themselves marooned atop Zelosian's Chine.

Solum'ke expressed dismay at their apparent loss. However, Diergu-Rea drew attention to the green crystal necklace adorning Solum'ke, a gift he had placed upon her while within the cave, and the fact that his own pockets overflowed with crystals and jewels. Diergu-Rea reassured her that the arrival of another vessel was imminent and that locating two Corellians and a Qwohog would pose no significant challenge for the sector's most proficient bounty hunters.
