Denua Ku

Denua Ku served as a soldier for the Yuuzhan Vong during their invasion of the galaxy. Not long after the Battle of Coruscant, he was part of the personal bodyguard detail of Warmaster Tsavong Lah.

Biography

Denua Ku was a very competent soldier who wielded traditional Yuuzhan Vong weaponry such as amphistaffs and razor bugs, but he was also disturbingly effective at unarmed combat. He often wore a simple, traditional kilt for his duties instead of vonduun crab armor. This allowed him to show off his impressive markings, which included a single scar that ran up his body like a seam, from one knee to the top of his head. His other tattoos and markings had developed around this scar. As a member of the Warlord's guard, he was assigned to manage Viqi Shesh, and he also led searches for Jedi on occupied Coruscant.

During one of these hunts, where Viqi was utilized as a type of psychological bloodhound, Denua Ku's war party encountered the cyborg Irek Ismaren, who was now known as Lord Nyax. While the other warriors were slaughtered, Ku, acting in a way that was unusual for a Yuuzhan Vong, ran to inform the Warmaster. He was then given two dozen warriors to find the Jeedai. As Nyax attempted to infiltrate the remains of the Jedi Temple, Ku was astonished by the cyborg's incredible fighting skills. However, during the battle, he was thrown against the destroyed structures nearby and impaled through the chest by a rebar spar.

He requested that Viqi Shesh tell the Warmaster that he had died honorably, but Shesh said she would instead tell them that he died whining for "infidel" medicine. She then fled to the Terson family's apartment, where an escape ship was waiting. Enraged, Ku somehow managed to pull himself off the meter-long metal spear and climbed the skyscraper to chase Viqi. He told her that he intended to kill her, but she jumped out of a window to her death. Ku collapsed and died from his injuries.

Behind the scenes

While Denua Ku's death was implied in Aaron Allston's The New Jedi Order: Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand, it wasn't confirmed until the publication of The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia in 2008.
