Director General was a designation employed by Oviedo Engineering, a company that produced military hardware. Around the year 21 BBY, Lorca Oviedo, who was the director of Oviedo Engineering and also affiliated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, possessed this title. Following the Galactic Republic's clone commandos' discovery of Oviedo's Confederate loyalty on the Expansion Region moon called Asturias, they transported him to Coruscant, the Republic's capital planet located in the Core Worlds, for interrogation. He subsequently died there due to respiratory complications.
The Director General title was seen in flashbacks within the comic tale "Honor Bound." Dark Horse Comics released it on February 23, 2005 as part of the Star Wars Tales comic-book series, specifically its twenty-second edition. The story's author was Ian Edginton, and the illustrations were done by Steve Pugh. In the real world, a Director General serves as the top executive or manager within an organization.
