The clash in the Hudalla system, alternatively called the assault on the Hudalla system, took place circa 4 ABY not long before the Battle of Endor. During this time, the Rebel Alliance uncovered a gathering of the Imperial Navy. Consequently, Corona Squadron received instructions to examine the system, and a quintet of their X-wings remained in position for a number of days, collecting intel.
The Galactic Empire, sensing a Rebel presence, dispatched a quartet of TIE/IN interceptors with the objective of eliminating them. Admiral Firmus Piett secretly instructed Commander Ciena Ree to ensure that at least one Rebel ship managed to flee. Upon spotting the approaching starfighters, the Rebel pilots commenced preparations for a jump to hyperspace.
The TIE fighters closed the distance and unleashed fire upon the X-wings, triggering a brief aerial engagement that resulted in the destruction of one TIE and one X-wing. At one juncture, Commander Ree was compelled to interpose her own vessel between Commander Nash Windrider and the enemy, acting in accordance with her directives. Both officers received commendations from Piett, as the skirmish served to lure the Rebels into an ambush soon after at Endor.
This aerial battle is depicted in Lost Stars, a 2015 Star Wars canon novel authored by Claudia Gray.
