Female individuals, often referred to as door girls, would try to draw the attention of those passing by, encouraging them to come inside a business. During the time of the New Republic Era, a Theelin named Melna, along with an alien associate, both pursued this job, working as door girls at a dance club situated in Starport Borgo. Melna's employment also included dancing, alongside her role as a door girl. Approximately around 9 ABY, Melna and her fellow door girl were trying to attract customers to the dance club when they caught the attention of Fern, KB, Neel, and Wim. This group of younglings were in search of a means to return to their home planet of At Attin. Wim proposed entering the club, but Fern rejected the idea, causing the children to move on. Melna, having observed the young group, later tried to assist them, even though she struggled to accept their story of coming from At Attin.
The concept of door girls was initially presented in the live-action television show Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Their first canonical appearance was in the second episode, entitled "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier," which was initially broadcast on December 2, 2024. The term for their occupation was revealed through the Disney+ episode's audio description, as spoken by Jedediah Barton.
