Melna was a Theelin female employed as a dancer at a dance club situated on the asteroid known as Port Borgo. Around 9 ABY, she noticed a group of children lingering outside the club. Concerned for their well-being in the pirate-riddled port, she shadowed some of them, intervening to assist the youngsters Fern and KB.
When the girls asserted they hailed from the legendary planet At Attin, Melna dismissed their claims as fabrications concocted while fleeing. She attempted to escort them to secure transport, but the girls ultimately broke away from the Theelin to aid their companions, Wim and Neel, who were being pursued by pirates.

During the New Republic era, around 9 ABY, Melna, a Theelin female, held dual roles as a door girl and dancer at a cabaret dance club located on the pirate-controlled asteroid of Port Borgo. While working alongside another door girl, attempting to draw patrons into the club, she observed a group of children pause near the entrance. These children were seeking directions to their homeworld, At Attin, and briefly considered inquiring at the club before proceeding onward.
Upon noticing that the human child Fern had become separated from the others, Melna watched her with apprehension and subsequently followed her. After Fern rejoined her friend KB, Melna approached them swiftly, taking hold of their shoulders and crouching down to ascertain their ages. Ushering them into a nearby pet store kiosk, she questioned who had brought them to the port, emphasizing the inherent dangers for children and intending to secure them transport for their escape. When the girls disclosed that they had arrived aboard their own ship and merely required directions home, the Theelin inquired about their destination, but scoffed when they claimed to be from At Attin, given the world's widely held status as a myth. The two children resisted Melna's efforts to lead them away, suspecting she was attempting to abduct them.

When KB voiced her discomfort, stating that the Theelin was causing pain to her arm, the door girl relented and explained that the children needed a more plausible explanation than At Attin if they were evading someone. Fern insisted that it was indeed their homeworld, but Melna remained unconvinced. The trio's attention was then diverted by cries for help from the other two children from At Attin, Wim and Neel, who were being pursued by a group of pirates. Fern and KB subsequently parted ways with Melna to assist them, but all four children were apprehended by the pirates and confined to the brig.

Melna demonstrated concern for the well-being of the children she encountered on Port Borgo, abandoning her assigned post to attempt to lead them to safety and persevering even when they resisted her assistance. Despite their insistence, she refused to accept their claim of being from At Attin, presuming it was a fabricated story to conceal the reason they were fleeing. The Theelin possessed fair skin adorned with blue dots, brown eyes and blue hair.
Paloma Garcia-Lee played Melna in "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier," the second installment of the live-action Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which was broadcast on December 2, 2024. Garcia-Lee utilized the Volume for filming the show and collaborated with David Lowery, the episode's director. In an Instagram post, the performer included both #theelin and #theelinhuman as hashtags.
