Dopak was a combatant in both the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War. Ultimately, he became a mercenary on Dantooine under the command of Azkul, a former elite Sith commando.
Like many who served in the recent conflicts, Dopak found himself without a job when the wars concluded. He chose to become a soldier for hire, initially finding employment with the Republic in the Outer Rim. However, the Republic, facing financial difficulties after the war, reduced its spending, and Dopak and others like him lost their jobs. Following this, Dopak joined the group of mercenaries on Dantooine, whose name remains unknown.
When Meetra Surik encounters him, Dopak effectively serves as the second-in-command to the Sith veteran Azkul. During conversations, he reveals a cynical perspective and a general dislike for the settlers, though he avoids outright hostility. He commented on the settlers: "So the galaxy has dealt them a bad hand. They should ante up and get back in the game." Dopak held a certain respect for Administrator Terena Adare, but believed she needed to understand that the mercenaries would not leave Dantooine simply because she wished them gone. Despite some of his remarks, Dopak was not entirely without compassion. He disagreed with Azkul's methods and actions directed towards the settlers of Dantooine. Eventually, Dopak secretly formed an alliance with Zherron, the leader of the Khoonda militia.
Upon Meetra Surik's arrival on Dantooine, she gained Zherron's confidence and delivered a coded message to Dopak. This message confirmed Azkul's plans to attack Khoonda. It was accompanied by two words, spoken by Zherron to Meetra Surik, and then repeated by Surik to Dopak: "Go ahead."
During the Battle of Khoonda, Azkul attempted to kill Administrator Terena Adare, the leader of Khoonda. Once Azkul's mercenaries breached Khoonda's main building, Dopak sided with Administrator Terena Adare. He switched his allegiance to the militia, bringing a small group of mercenaries with him.
Following the battle, Dopak expressed his desire to continue working as a mercenary, stating, "I plan to leave with as many of my men as will come with me, and look for some work that is more honorable than the wholesale slaughter of civilians." Whether he participated in the Battle of Telos IV remains unknown.
The player has the option to converse with Dopak after the battle, as he remains inside the Khoonda building. If the player praises Dopak for changing sides, and suggests that his actions made victory possible, the player will earn light side points.
Dopak's survival after defecting to the Khoonda Militia is not assured; he can be killed in combat if the enemy forces focus their attacks on him. The same applies to the mercenary NPCs who join Dopak in opposing Azkul's followers.
Alternatively, if the player fails to deliver Zherron's message to Dopak before the attack on Khoonda, Dopak is compelled to fight alongside the mercenaries during the battle. In this scenario, he will die if the player supports the militia, or survive if the player supports the mercenaries. In the latter case, where Khoonda is conquered by Azkul's forces, Dopak will be present in the Khoonda building, but will not engage in dialogue with Meetra Surik.
It is never explicitly stated which side Dopak fought on in either of the two wars he participated in. Considering that he does not share the characteristic views of Mandalorians, it is more likely that he fought for the Republic in the first war. Given his principles, despite his rough exterior, Dopak may well have served with the Republic a second time against Darth Revan, and later Darth Malak. Considering that most of the mercenaries on Dantooine are Sith veterans, Dopak may have deliberately avoided mentioning his specific military service to prevent arousing their suspicion.
