Crime lord Dryden Vos's most cherished item was his signet ring; only the most trusted capos within the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate were permitted to use such a ring. This ring was encoded to grant access to secure data systems and served as a communication device to contact Vos's clandestine superior, the former Sith Lord Maul. Following Vos's death in 10 BBY, Qi'ra utilized the ring to establish contact with Maul, relaying the events that had transpired.

As the public persona of Crimson Dawn, Dryden Vos invariably wore the signet ring in the presence of others, such as aboard his yacht. Vos was wearing the ring during his meeting and subsequent murder of Diles Anevi. Subsequently, after a brief discussion with Tobias Beckett, Vos was introduced to Han Solo and Chewbacca, still with the ring adorning his finger. When Vos and his primary lieutenant Qi'ra welcomed the three rogues into Vos's office, both individuals were wearing their respective versions of the ring.

Later, upon the First Light's arrival on Savareen, Vos engaged in a battle against Han Solo and Qi'ra. With the ring still on his hand, Vos fought with determination, but ultimately met his end, taken by surprise by Qi'ra's betrayal, a fellow wielder of the ring. Following Vos's demise, Qi'ra retrieved the ring from his finger and employed it to contact Darth Maul via the slot on Dryden's desk, informing him of the unfolding events. After receiving instructions to rendezvous with Maul on Dathomir, Qi'ra left Han behind on Savareen, now in possession of both rings.
