Duel on Dantooine
During the time of the Great Galactic War, a conflict that pitted the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire, Jedi Master Tol Braga engaged in frequent communication with various Sith Lords, hoping to find a path toward a peaceful resolution to the war. These efforts by the Kel Dor did not bear fruit until Darth Sajar, a member of the Sith's governing body, the Dark Council, requested a meeting with him on the planet Dantooine to discuss the possibility of peace.
The meeting between them took place sometime between 3678 BBY and 3653 BBY, the year the war concluded. Upon Braga's arrival, Sajar initiated an attack against the Jedi, sparking a three day long duel during which both warriors debated and tried to sway the other to their respective side of the Force. The confrontation reached its conclusion when Braga successfully persuaded the Dark Councilor to renounce the dark side and become his Padawan learner. Abandoning his Darth title, Sajar then shared a significant portion of his knowledge with the Jedi Council, including details about the agents known as the Children of the Emperor.
Behind the scenes
Tol Braga's duel was initially referenced in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game from 2011 that was released by BioWare. Braga recounts his history with Sajar during the Jedi Knight class mission "The Emperor's Wrath," before dispatching the player to Quesh. A more detailed account of the duel was provided in the 2012 reference book Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, although the book incorrectly placed the duel's location as Nar Shaddaa.
