Edouard Fenel

Edouard Fenel, a Human Imperial admiral, demonstrated unwavering allegiance to Roan Fel's Empire-in-exile during the tumultuous period of the Second Imperial Civil War. He held the esteemed position of commander within the Bastion Second Fleet.

History

During the Sith–Imperial War, Edouard Fenel rendered service to the Fel Empire. This Human captained the starship known as the Resolute during the Battle of Caamas. According to Gar Stazi, his role involved "picking off cruisers too heavily damaged to put up a fair fight."

Ultimately, Fenel chose to pledge his support to Emperor Fel. When the Galactic Alliance Remnant and the Empire-in-exile reached an agreement to unite against the Sith, Fenel was the commanding officer of the Bastion Second Fleet. Fel designated Fenel to co-lead the joint operation alongside Stazi, commanding the forces loyal to his empire. Stazi harbored suspicions that Fel's assignment of Fenel was a test of him and the Remnant.

In the Battle of Ralltiir, Fenel and Stazi led their respective fleets in a confrontation against the Sith's Coruscant Third Fleet. The battle's objectives were twofold: to capture the Sith fleet and to compel the Sith to stretch their forces. During the engagement, Fenel instructed Admiral Kelsan to surrender Darth Krayt's fleet, threatening destruction if they refused, and even suggesting mutiny if the ship's officers resisted. Kelsan consented to surrender.

The plan unraveled when Vaclen Tor, the captain of the Steadfast, defied the order to surrender and instead urged the remainder of the Third Fleet to initiate self-destruction and escape. In response, Fenel commanded all Imperial vessels, including the surrendering Imperial fleet, to eliminate the Steadfast. However, Tor's actions inspired Kelsan to choose self-destruction over surrender. Fenel then directed his forces to destroy the escape pods and obliterate the remaining ship. Stazi, however, had reached his limit with Fenel's merciless strategies. Positioning his fleet between Fenel and Kelsan's forces, Stazi issued a warning that any attack on their forces would result in the annihilation of Fenel's fleet. Stazi permitted Kelsan's crews to evacuate and detonate their ships.

Regrettably, the Steadfast had sustained damage from Fenel's assault, rendering its escape pods and self-destruct systems inoperable. Upon discovering this, Fenel commanded his forces to destroy Tor's vessel. He advised Stazi to withdraw his own forces from the Steadfast, but Stazi firmly refused. Instead, he ordered his fleet to provide a barrage of covering fire between Fenel's fleet and Tor's vessels, leading Fenel to call off the attack. Roan Fel later conveyed his apologies to Stazi for Fenel's tactics, admitting that he had overestimated Fenel's understanding of the situation.

Personality and traits

Edouard Fenel firmly believed in Roan Fel's rightful claim to the title of Emperor, and consequently, he stood by him when the Sith seized control of the Empire. Nevertheless, Fenel displayed a ruthless approach when dealing with his Emperor's adversaries, even resorting to the Sith's own brutal methods. He also held a critical view of the Galactic Alliance, particularly Gar Stazi, whom he frequently insulted during their collaborative efforts.
